Exercises for Arms in Plaster.

You have been treated for an Arm Injury. You have been thoroughly examined and are now considered fit to be discharged. The following will aid your recovery.

Arm Excersises

Stretch all fingers and thumb out and then spread them apart.
Make a full fist getting fingertips into palm. Curl your thumb over your fingers.
Touch thumb tip with your index finger tip then spread them apart. Repeat with each finger tip. Do 10 of each of these exercises every ½ hour. It is important to do these frequently to avoid hand swelling and stiffness.
Touch the palm of your hand to same shoulder and then straighten arm fully.
Lift your arm above your head and lower.
Fold your arms across your chest and then spread them apart.

Do exercises 4, 5 and 6 (ten of each) 3 times a day.

Generally speaking the sling may be discarded after 48 hours unless the fingers are very swollen.
