We have used wound closure strips to hold the wound together and to help it to heal/close. The following instructions will aid their recovery.
Information for Parents
We have used wound closure strips to hold the wound together and to help it to heal/close.
What do I need to know?
- Keep the strips dry at all times for at least 5 days or the wound will not heal.
- When bathing/washing, cover the wound with a plastic bag to stop it from getting wet where possible.
- Any outer dressing can be removed after 24 hours.
- No swimming until you are told otherwise by a Nurse or Doctor.
- After 5—7 days, the strips can be removed by soaking them. Soak the strips and then remove them gently.
Signs of infection
Please come back to the Emergency Department or see your family doctor (GP) if your child develops any of the following symptoms:
- Redness
- Increased swelling
- Pain
- Discharge
- Fever
Data Protection
We collect information about your child and family relevant to their diagnosis and treatment. We store it in written records and on computer. We may have to share your information with other people and organisations.
