Suture Instructions (Child).

Your wound has been treated with Sutures. You have been thoroughly examined and are now considered fit to be discharged. The following will aid your recovery.

Suture Instructions

We have closed your wound with stitches (some people call these sutures).

You should:

Keep them clean and dry. If they do get wet, gently pat them dry with a towel.

Keep any dressing or bandage on until your stitches come out. Tell your mum or dad if your dressing or bandage gets wet or dirty so that they can put a new one on for you.

Please ask your mum or dad to phone us if:

You get a lot of swelling.

You get a lot of pain.

The edges of the wound don’t heal.

The wound oozes or leaks.

Please remember:

The stitches need to stay in for about a week. You might have to come back so that we can take them out or you might have to go to your doctor; but don’t worry, we use special stitch cutters and it won’t hurt at all, and if you ask nicely you might even get to keep one of the stitches to show your friends.

We hope that your wound will soon be better.
