Toe Spica (Garter Strapping).

You have been treated with a Toe Spica. You have been thoroughly examined and are now considered fit to be discharged. The following will aid your recovery.

Care Instructions for a Toe Spica

Your toe injury has been treated with a toe spica and must be worn for one week or as advised by the doctor/nurse.

Instructions

If your toe becomes swollen causing blueness, coldness, whiteness, numbness or a feeling of ‘pins and needles’, please remove the strapping immediately.

The strapping must be kept dry.

If your skin develops an irritation/rash where the strapping is stuck, remove it immediately and seek medical advice.

Your foot should be raised on a cushion, as advised.

When walking, bend the knee, using heel to toe action, as demonstrated by the nurse, to avoid limping.
