Glue Information (Child).

Your child has been treated with Medical Glue. They have been thoroughly examined and are now considered fit to be discharged. The following instructions will aid their recovery.

Glue Information Advice for Parents

Instead of stitches we have used a special medical glue to close your child’s wound. It acts like a scab to hold the edges of the wound together and drops off by itself when the wound is properly healed.

During the First Five Days

You should:

Let your child go to school as normal.

You should not:

Wash your child’s hair, but, if you need to, you can clean the hair around the wound with a sponge.

Let your child pick the glue or comb near it.

Let your child go swimming.

After Five Days

You should:

Wash and comb your child’s hair as normal.

Let your child go swimming as normal.

Take your child to your nearest Emergency Department or phone us on 01708 435000 if:

The wound opens again.

You are worried about them.
