Anti-inflammatory Painkillers.

You have been given anti-inflammatory painkillers. You have been thoroughly examined and are now considered fit to be discharged. The following instructions will aid your recovery.

Anti-inflammatory Painkillers

This medicine is used to relieve pain, swelling, inflammation and stiffness in a variety of conditions.

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to aspirin or ibuprofen tell the doctor, nurse or pharmacist before you take this medication.

It is important that you take this medicine regularly for a few days, so that you will gain the maximum benefit. If you miss a dose, the amount of the medication in the blood will fall and the medication will not be as effective.

It is better to take this type of medication with a glass of milk, or after a meal.

Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen based products with this medication unless you have been advised to do so by a prescribing clinician.

Paracetamol may be taken with this type of medication.

You are advised to read the patient information leaflet given to you or supplied with your medication.

Do not keep unwanted/unused medication, you should return them to a pharmacy or your GP for safe disposal.

Most patients have no side-effects with this type of medication, however, if you experience any of the following symptoms, stop taking the product and seek further advice:

Ringing or buzzing in the ears.
Severe stomach pains.
Vomiting blood.
Passing red or black motions.
Swelling of the face or mouth.
Blurred vision.
Difficulty in breathing.

Unless you feel unwell for any reason, you may drive whilst taking this medication.
