You can ask someone else to carry out the instillation of this medication. It is very important to wash hands thoroughly before and after the procedure.Have a tissue ready.Do not touch the glass part of the dropper or the nozzle

Sit down with your head tilted back.

Pull down bottom eyelid.

Keep both eyes open and look up.

You may find it easier to apply your eye drops/ointment if you look in a mirror.

Do not touch the eye or eyelid with dropper/nozzle.

Squeeze gently.

Use about half an inch (1 cm) of ointment.
or
Release one drop (or as directed) into the space between the lower lid and the eye.
Close eyes, and remove any excess by wiping lashes with a tissue.

Keep bottle upright.Do not lay dropper down.Replace dropper in bottle or cover nozzle with cap at once.
 Your vision may be blurred for a few minutes after you have used your eye drops. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear.
Care of your eye drops/ointment

 Store your eye drops/ointment in a cool place, out of reach of children.

 Discard the bottle/tube once treatment is complete.

 Do not share your eye drops/ointment with anyone else.

If you have been given an eye pad, it can be removed after 6 hours. Please do not smoke, as eye pads are flammable.
If you have any concerns or worsening symptoms please return to the Emergency Department.
